Extreme Fashion Sunglasses
Cost is in the Eye of the Beholder
Many people buy designer sunglasses to show that they buy the best brand. They are best-of-breed people who want the world to know they buy designer products. When they buy that perfect summer outfit, they throw in a pair of designer sunglasses, whether they are better than what they would find in an ordinary store, or whether they may just as well have spent $10 rather than $100. What sets the more expensive sunglasses apart from their plain Jane counterparts is usually nothing more than a small logo on the frame. Luxury sunglasses mean luxury labels, but not necessarily quality.
Going Even Higher
Some designer sunglasses are just not ritzy enough for glamorous models and celebrities. Sunglasses have long been the symbol of fame, and convey a kind of stealth that causes people to take notice. Celebrities wear sunglasses to escape from the paparazzi, and nowadays, they sport the most expensive sunglasses possible to show they are going to duck the paparazzi in style. It is quite funny to see how the celebrities dress down for the camera when they are in the store and don’t want to be recognized, yet they wear luxury sunglasses with their cut-off jeans and luxury t-shirts. Some of these expensive sunglasses look sufficiently striking to seem to warrant the interest if not the price tags. Other shades are pure status symbols.
Most Expensive Shades
The most expensive sunglasses in the world are designed by Moss Libow and are called Ostrich alligator specks. These have wide-circled frames and fetch a whopping $3,800 a pair. Most are going and are gone to the rich and famous. The people who spend this kind of money on luxury sunglasses do so only because they can. It is unlikely to be because they truly believe that the $3,800 price tag on a pair of sunglasses guarantees more up-to-date fashion or higher quality.
